    Physical Standards

    Minimum Height : 160 cms. Minimum weight : 45.5 Kg (Relaxable if the candidate is otherwise medically fit)

    Total Duration of Training Period : Two years

    Selection Method
    Category-I: Written Examination of one hour duration will be conducted and will comprise of 40 objective (multiple) type questions. The syllabus for the said examination will be based on subjects at Diploma/B.Sc. level as the case may be. Those candidates qualifying in the written examination shall be short-listed for interview to be held on the following day. ‘3’ marks for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
    Final selection and ranking will be on the basis of performance of the candidate in interview and no weightage
    will be given for marks scored in the written examination. The decision of this Research Centre in this regard is final.

    Category-II: The selection process will consist of tests in 3 stages – Stage 1, Stage 2 & Stage 3.
    Stage1            - Preliminary Test    : Screening examinations to be held to shortlist candidates. The format of the screening examinations will be common for all trades and will be in the following format.
    1.      Examination will consist of 50 multi choice questions(choice of 4 answers) of one hour duration in the following proportion:
    a.       Mathematics                – 20 questions
    b.      Science                        – 20 questions
    c.       General awareness       – 10 questions
    2.      ‘3’ marks for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
    3.      All candidates with <40% in General category and <30% in reserved category will be screened out.
    Stage 2           - Advanced Test        : All candidates Screened in Stage 1 will be allowed to undertake Stage 2 (Advance Test) in their respective trade.
    1.      The Test will comprise 50 multi choice questions (choice of 4 answers) of two hour duration.
    2.      ‘3’ marks for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
    3.      Merit List of candidates will be prepared after Stage-2 based upon the scores obtained in Stage-2 only.
    4.      All candidates with <30% in General category and <20% in reserved category will be screened out.
    Stage 3           - Skills Test                : Based upon the Merit List prepared after Stage-2, candidates will be shortlisted for Stage 3 (Skill Test). Candidates clearing the skill test will be shortlisted and empanelled in  order of Merit based on the marks secured in Stage 2.
    1.      The number of candidates shortlisted for Skill Test will depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Stage 2 but will not exceed 4 - 5 times the number of vacancies in each trade.
    2.      The Skill Test will be based on Go/No-Go basis.
    SCOPE OF TRAINING: Selected candidates will be given training at Mumbai in various aspects of relevant disciplines/trades, as per prescribed syllabi of each discipline/trade and for meeting stringent requirements of BARC/AERB. The candidates will not have any choice/option for any particular training programme/training place.

    GRADE AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF TRAINING: Upon successful completion of training, trainees will be considered for absorption in the following grade at the time of appointment depending on their performance during the period of training and interview to be held at the end of the training.




    In addition to entry pay, allowances will be admissible under Central Government Rules.

     NATURE OF DUTIES :
    The candidates selected against BARC posts are likely to be posted at BARC, Mumbai and its Constituent Units.
    The candidates selected against AERB posts are likely to be posted at the AERB Regional Regulatory Centres at Chennai/Kolkata or Safety Research Institute, Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu.

    For BARC post: To assist in engineering design, installations and commissioning of electrical equipments, testing, execution of electrical jobs like HT/LT panels, their inspection and maintenance. Work also involves operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities of electrical utility in round-the-clock/General shift.
    For AERB post: Oversee design, installation, commissioning, testing and operation of Electrical systems/ equipment, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes

    Metallurgy
    For BARC post: Material processing Laboratories and Plants, fabrication, Plant Operations and
    related site activities in round-the-clock/ General Shift.

    Chemical
    For BARC post: To participate in design/ procurement and inspection of chemical equipments; to participate in and supervise erection/testing/ commissioning/ operation/ data logging/trouble shooting/ maintenance jobs in areas pertaining to chemical process equipment/machinery/plants; Operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities in round- the-clock shift/General Shift.
    For AERB post: Regulation of erection/ testing/ commissioning/ operation/data logging/trouble shooting jobs in areas pertaining to chemical process plants/ machinery/ equipment, participation
    in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes

    For AERB post: Civil engineering safety assessment of nuclear facilities, participation in
    regulatory inspections in the field of civil engineering and AERB site observer programmes.

    Computer Science
    For AERB post: Computer operation; Networking, Software development; Website maintenance; Software maintenance and generation of MIS reports; Preparation of progress reports using MS Office software packages, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer
    programmes.

    For BARC post: To assist in designing/commissioning/ testing/inspection of electronic equipment/instruments in process plants and technical laboratories. The duties will also involve operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities in round-the-clock/ General Shift.
    For AERB post: Regulation in variety of Electronic instruments/circuits; PCBs and miniature electronic components; review of design / development and operation of electronic systems like PLC, PCB and instruments, participation in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer
    programmes.

    For BARC post: Radiopharmaceutical programme, R&D on new radio pharmaceuticals, to assist in the processing of radiochemical from irradiated targets, Radiochemical analysis of different samples, environmental matrices, conducting experiment related to chemical engineering activities including process development and quality management etc, Qualitative/quantitative chemical analysis by physical/volumetric/gravimetric/instrumental methods; Operation and maintenance of plants, lab operations and related site activities in round- the-clock shift/General Shift
    For AERB post: Regulation of nuclear and radiation facilities, participation in regulatory
    inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

    mixtures, buffer solutions, measurement of pH, EC, Alkalinity in water samples and processing of materials in radiological lab.

    A/C Mechanic
    For BARC post: Operation and Maintenance of Air Conditioning System.

    Fitter
    For BARC post: Operation, Fabrication and Maintenance of Systems.

    Welder
    For BARC post: Gas Cutting and Welding Works.

    Machinist
    For BARC post: Operation of Milling, Drilling, Lathe and Shaping Machine.

    For BARC post: Erection, Operation and Maintenance of Electrical Equipments and Auxiliaries in Sub-station and other Installations.
    For AERB post: Operation, maintenance and regulation of electrical equipment, assisting in
    regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.


    Electronics & Instrumentation
    For BARC post: Operation maintenance of Electronic equipments/instruments in process plants and support during Installation and Commissioning.
    For AERB post: Operation, maintenance and regulation of Electronic circuits/ components,
    assisting in regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.

    Mechanical
    For AERB post: Operation, maintenance and regulation of mechanical equipment, assisting in
    regulatory inspections and AERB site observer programmes.
